Privacy policy
Ripple Player is made by Recital Records Ltd. It collects no personal data.
Your music
With your permission, the app reads the albums saved in your Apple Music library, on your phone, to show them as records on a shelf and to play them through Apple’s music player. That information stays on your phone. The app has no servers of its own and sends nothing to us.
To tell whether an album in your library is whole, and when you search Apple Music or add an album, the app talks to Apple’s Apple Music service directly, under Apple’s privacy policy. When a record will not play because you have no Apple Music subscription, the app can show Apple’s own subscription offer; that offer is Apple’s, and we see nothing of it.
The microphone
If you allow it, the app listens through the microphone while a record is playing, so the water on the turntable can move with the music. The sound is turned into movement on your phone as it plays. It is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere, and the app stops listening when the record stops. iOS shows its orange dot whenever the microphone is in use.
You can choose Not now when asked, switch off “Water hears the music” in the app’s Settings, or turn off the app’s microphone access in iOS Settings, under Privacy & Security, Microphone.
What stays on your phone
- Your settings: the shelf order, whether singles and part-saved albums are shown, whether the next record plays, whether the water hears the music, and which records you have taken off the shelf.
- Which of your albums are whole, so the app needn’t ask Apple Music again each time.
- A small cache of album artwork and the record spines made from it, so the shelf appears quickly.
Deleting the app deletes all of it.
What we do not do
- No account, no sign-in.
- No analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no tracking of any kind.
- No data sold, shared or transferred. Nothing leaves your phone except your own requests to Apple Music.
This website
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Its fonts and pictures are served from the site itself. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which keeps standard server logs to run and protect the service.
Children
The app has no content of its own and no way to communicate with anyone. What plays is governed by your Apple Music and Screen Time settings.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will appear at this address with a new effective date.
